Amitabh Bachchan

Big B says not seeing people and social stigma around COVID can affect the patient.

Amitabh Bachchan, who was admitted to Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital’s isolation ward. After testing positive for COVID-19. He has been sharing regular updates on his social media handles. And his son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, who also tested positive. Is hospitalized as well. Big B recently shared a heartfelt note on his blog. Where he wrote about his experience. At the hospital and the fragile mental state of COVID-19 patients as they recover.

Amitabh Bachchan said the disease takes a toll on one’s mental health. As they’re kept away from human contact. “The mental conditions and the effects of the disease. Clinically and medically all that is known to be effective. Yet very little is known. That remains hidden unseen and not visible. The mental state sparks from the stark reality. That the COVID patient, put in hospitalized isolation. Never gets to see another human for weeks. There are nurses and doctors on a visit and medical care. But they appear in PPE units. You never get to know who they are, what are their features, expressions. Because they are forever covered in the units for protection. All white beings about… almost robotic in their presence. They deliver what is prescribed and leave. Leave because longer stay has the fear of contamination(sic)” he wrote.

So Much Stress say’s Amitabh Bachchan

Referring to the mental stress that a patient experiences. He added, “The doctor under whose guidance the care and mapping and reports are governed by. Never ever comes near you to give a hand of assurance. Personal detail of the treatment in the close proximity of an assurance(sic).”

Amitabh Bachchan informing that communication is virtual, which, though “impersonal”, is the best way in the situation. “We are in the remote treatment. Does it have an effect psychologically and mentally? psychologists say it does. Patients after release are tempered, they are given to consultation with professional mind talkers. They are afraid to be in public for fear or apprehension of being treated differently. Treated as one that has carried the disease, a pariah syndrome.

Driving them into deeper depression and in the loneliness. That they have just come out of. And even though the disease may have left the system. The case of low fever pursuing for 3-4 weeks is never ruled out. The world has not found a full proof methodology of the disease. Every case is different. Never before has the medical realm been so handicapped. Trial and error were never in such great demand than now(sic)” he noted.
