When stress builds it becomes hard for us to relax and enjoy our time. Now, it’s time to take control of our thought process and increase our mental game.
In a survey, a number of people told they last was not good for them. Whether their situation involved a merger, an acquisition, a significant restructure, a new job, or family illness or loss. It seems that most of us think that life is becoming more challenging and complex. And, success is becoming more difficult to achieve which impacts your mental game.
We feel so anxious about us on the weekend. Thinking, Why did I spend my entire weekend thinking of some conversation. Why do we struggle so much being at home? Then thinking, that I am not sure I am having fun anymore.
During the course of a single day, each one of us handles many relationships and tasks, and then we judge ourselves. At times we feel happy for a moment that we enjoyed with our loved ones, might be excited that we made a great deal, and feel on top after a negotiation. But the very next minute, we get angry by a message, get’s sad after hearing something bad or maybe by looking at social media posts. And looking at the mirror at ourselves and thinking that we have not been taken care of. And, we live with the disappointment we feel in ourselves whenever we react in an immature or unkind ways.
Why did I get so angry? Why did I felt the need to talk so much? Why wasn’t I able to handle myself better? Why does it seem like everyone else is handling their life easily and with fun?
As an adult and senior-level leaders, we are responsible for complex, high profile and high stake deliveries. Not to mention the never-ending, low-interest tasks are required of you as a human being with a family to nurture and to maintain as well. And, none of this is letting up anytime soon. Thus, the only we can change in ourselves is how we live life. And, this begins by increasing our mental game- thoughts you allow your mind the think.
“Change your thoughts and you change your world.” By Norman Vincent Peale
Almost each one of us suffers from negative thought patterns which in turn limits your professional success. But consistently deny you of the only thing you really care about.
Let me ask you this: Can you focus your mind on what you want to? When do you want to? Are you in charge of how you feel and behave? Are you in control of your own internal attention?
There isn’t a single human being whose life and professional success would not significantly improve by improving their mental game.
Here Are 3 Ways Which Can Help You To Improve our Mental Game
By focusing on these points we can increase our mental game.
1. Find The Positive In Life
Always direct your attention towards all that which is working well. Notice how the work and actions of everyone around you positively contribute to your life. And follow this lead. For example, how a delayed flight allows you to have a timely conversation or much-needed break and something to eat. Keep repeating the thought, “Things are working out for me”. And then look for signs that this is in true fact.
2. Learn From Those Around You
Direct your attention to all that is being admired and is celebrated about those you work with and those around you. For every one you come across, ask yourself that what do I admire the most in them? What could teach me if I was open to it? What’s the great gift do I see in them?
3. Take Hold Of Your Mind
Direct your attention to all you are grateful for. Spend five minutes in a day and write down everything that you have and love. Look at this list, practice experiencing what it is like to feel rich and successful exactly as you are right now. Take a second to send a thank you note to someone who needs to know how grateful you are for who they are. Your greatest challenge will be to suspend your adult cynicism for an entire week to actively direct the focus of your mind. Allow only kind and good thoughts into your mind. If you experience a bad thought, get excited for the challenge to be kind to yourself. As you do the inner work to reframe the thought to something that is really good, excited, successful.
The only place that you will live is inside yourself. Do this work and you will have everything that you ever wanted. At the end of the week think of how you feel, were the above points really helpful?, and then notice how the world rises up to meet you.
Keep these points in mind which in turn will help us to increase our mental game.
