Boating To The Neermahal

The Water Palace, Neermahal is located in Lake Rudrasagar, 53 km away from Agartala. Earlier a royal summer residence that belonged to the king of the Tripura in the 1930s. This palace showcase a blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. The western section used to be the residence of the royal family. While the eastern side was an open theatre for entertainment. Such as theatre, dance, drama, etc. You can reach the palace only through a boat ride through Lake Rudrasagar.

Pilgrimage To Jagannath And Kali Temples

Jagannath Temple found in Agartala. On the other hand, the Kamalasagar Kali Temple found 27 km from the capital city. Located on the grounds of Ujjayanta Palace, the Jagannath Bari is a 19th-century temple. Built by the Manikya dynasty.

Dedicated to Goddess Kali. Kamalasagar Kali Temple is located on a hillock that overlooks Kamalasagar Lake. A visit to these amazing temples is a must when in Tripura.

Try The Cuisine Of Tripura

Tripura cuisine is known as Mui Borok by the locals. Important ingredients of most of their dishes include Berma. A sour-tasting dried and fermented fish.

Some of the dishes that you must try are fish stew, bamboo shoot pickle, Bangui rice, and many more. The cuisine mostly involves non-vegetarian dishes.

The Heritage Park in Agartala is an amazing place of tourist attraction. It has miniature replicas of all the major heritage sites of Tripura. That includes Neermahal, Ujjayanta Palace, Unakoti.

Try The Juicy Oranges Of Jampui Hills

You must visit the Jampui Hills between the months of September to December. In order to witness the grand orange festival that takes place every year. The festival was a celebration of the economical rise that took place after the mass production of oranges that happened in Jampui.

You can also try trekking and boating in the nearby Sabual village.

Visit The Glorious Ujjayanta Palace

Built-in 1901, Ujjayanta Palace used to be a royal palace. Now turned into a museum. Built by King Radha Kishore Manikya of the Manikya dynasty. Situated on the banks of a little lake and is flanked by beautiful Mughal gardens. This museum has 22 galleries that have an eclectic collection of art. Such as sculptures, figurines, terracotta, etc. They reflect the rich culture and tradition of the north-eastern states of India. This palace remains open for visitors from 10 am to 5 pm while it is closed on Mondays.

Attend The Durga Puja Of Agartala

Durga Puja is always associated with Kolkata and West Bengal, Tripura. It also happens to be a state that celebrates Durga Puja with full joy. During Durga Puja, Agartala sees beautiful Durga Puja pandals. Here the expertise and talent of the local artist’s is shown. Visit Tripura during October-November to witness their beautiful Durga Puja celebrations.

Explore Unakoti

Unakoti, a popular heritage site. Protected under the Archaeological Survey of India. You can find innumerable beautiful rock-cut carvings. Meaning “one less than a crore”. These carvings date back to the 7th to 9th centuries. They look glorious on the patch of the green background. It is certainly a must-visit in Tripura and can be visited at any time of the day.
